No hitting!
That is usually a good rule to follow. Sometimes little people fail to see the reasoning behind the rule. I got a call from Bubba and Little H's kindergarten teacher last Thursday. Does your stomach sink when you get that just after school call? Mine does. It does not happen very often these days but I still react the same. Flashbacks from C-Dogs first grade nightmare come rolling through my mind. The teacher Mrs. H quickly asks if I have seen Bubba's fat lip as he is standing next to me with his fat lip pulled out. I quickly tell her I am just being shown the proof of someone else's handiwork. A chubby lip and a little cut inside his lower lip. I quickly wonder what he did to get some other child mad enough to hit. Before I can ask, I am told that the guilty strong arm belongs to none other than Little H. Nice...... My daughter gave my son a fat lip in kindergarten. It is funny in a you will look back at this some day and chuckle kind of way. If that is not bad enough apparently he is the 3rd kid to see the end of her fist that week. WHAT? Little H is the class bully? Mrs. H assures me she is surprised and that it had just been a bad week. Bubba accidentally stepped on her and nailed him. Another unsuspecting five year took two blows to the back for bumping her. Has she had many fun times this weekend, nope! She came out of the womb a hitter. It is her weapon of choice and we have been trying for years to get it under control and just when I think we have seen the end of it, here it comes again with a vengeance. After discussing each situation with the teacher we both decided it is happening because of fatigue. Adjusting to all day kindergarten is hard on small bodies. She does come from a large family where a quiet girl like her has not too many defenses and thus comes out fighting. So we are working so hard to use our words and not our hands. We are not letting the smallest indiscretion slip at home and are really encouraging her to speak up for herself and to recognize no one is trying to be mean. Oh I hope it finally sinks in we have really tried everything, I promise! We even talk about hitting in our prayers. Hopefully as she adjusts she will learn to keep her hands to herself.

A sweet girl like her does not need to earn herself any trouble.
P.S. just wrote her adoption story on my private blog.

This week
I sat back and just listened when I could.
Some inconsequential thing happened, but I new I was being lied to. I hate that, so I sent my Irish triplets to their rooms until some one could tell the truth. Little H came down swearing her innocence. I knew she was in the clear so I sent her off to play. I announced to the hoodlums left in their rooms that Little H was off the hook. They were surprisingly calm, so I listened,
Bubba, " So what are we going to tell her?
Wild Thing, "I didn't do it!"
Bubba, " Yeah, but Mom is mad."
Wild Thing, "I DIDN'T Do it!"
Bubba, "FINE, I will just go tell the truth!"
Negotiations over........... He was so sad when we were all swimming and he was stuck in quiet time for lying. Hope he enjoyed his nap.
My kids were amazed a lady as old as me could actually swim.
I was amazed at how few laps I could do, yikes...
I left a child at home, SCARY! I was misinformed of a baseball playoffs games starting time.(Duh, the messenger is a 10 yr old boy!) So when the coach called frantic telling me my son would be the reason they forfeited. I threw the kids in the car and drove off. We were halfway to the ballfeild when Sweet K screams, "We forgot Miss M!" I dropped off my half dressed baseball player just in time and drove home. The front door was wide open. This is where the what kind of Mother am I doubts started screaming through my brain. Who runs off with out a child? The door being opened sent me into panic mode. Mind you it has only been 8-10 minutes. My mind went crazy, I ran in the house and down the stairs and there sat Miss M in all her 7 year old glory watching Mickey Mouse Club House. She was totally oblivious to her plight. My only thought was maybe I need to pummel one 10 Year old boy into learning to close doors! Okay, I don't pummel my kids but I wanted to right about then. Really it's my fault for not counting kids. I Know I over reacted a little, but it scared me that the next time we would be on vacation, it would be a gas station in the middle of Idaho and I wouldn't notice for over an hour or more. My folks did that to my brother. It's funny now but my parents were not laughing at the time.
We have an adoption day and time for Tankster!!! Yippee!!!! Now we pray every day and night and any prayer in between that some bio relatives do not file a motion to intervene. He won't leave, it will just delay the adoption and we do not want that or the legal hassle.

10 Reasons I Love my Redneck Swimmimg Pool
1, It is a hole, and is filled with cool refreshing chlorinated water.
2, It makes even the grumpiest of small people smile.

3, It promotes sibling interactions that are sparse.

4, It provides a learning tool forslave labor work ethic.

5, Keeps bored kids from complaining.
6, Has the possibility of removing pasty white coloring from the resident lifeguard.
7, Helps me coin new Mom phrases I am sure to repeat until I am blue in the face, "Walking feet, walking feet, I said, NO RUNNING!"
8,It increases creativity.

9, Makes the kiddos so tired that sleep comes five minutes after their heads hit the pillow.
10, Summer entertainment without sopping wet car seats.
Have you always heard that pools are money pits? We had heard similar. When we found our new house that met all our criteria and it just happened to have a pool that was outdated and in need of a complete overhaul. What were we to do? Fill it in? Pay thousands to bring it up to date? Not buy the house? I loved the idea of a pool with 8 small kids to entertain. Mr. M. Not so much. It could have been a deal breaker. Well a money pit it is..... whether we fill it in or remodel/re-do it. It is still usable so until all plans are final we are taking advantage and just livin with it's issues. We are hoping to have it all spruced up by the actual true beginning of summer. We will see...

It's a tricky thing.
Raising C-Dog is just plain tricky. Figuring how help him overcome things with out the direct approach. Sometimes the direct approach is needed, we use it when we need to. I have found a few tricks that work though when it is not. I wonder when he will catch on to my little scheming. How long can you trick the trickster? As long as I can....
I found something he loves, and lucky for me some thing I like too.

Games, card or board. When I need to discuss stuff with him I invite him to play. We usually play 2 to 3 times a week. We talk about school, grades, friends, and church. He opens up and tells me all sorts of things. It keeps the peace in more than one way. He gets to get some things off his chest, and so do I. He is occupied so he has no interest in teasing his siblings. In fact he invited Little H to join us today and he coached her through the game and got her snacks. It always diffuses hard feeling and he feels like a king when he kicks my hiney.
The second method I have found I don't like as much. It is a must in everyday life and mainly my job for now, so I make it work for me. He on the other hand loves it, and I am glad he does. He loves to cook and bake.

He is very good at it and he gets to be in control. I am sure a reason he likes it. So today as he was mixing up brownies and I was just chillin with him in the kitchen he started to share some dreams. it was really to cute." Hey Mom, when I get married I want to go sky diving with my wife." Me, "really?" " Yeah Mom, my wife is supposed to be my best friend and I want to go with my best friend. Imagine us just chillin in the air as we jump out of the plane."
Really I hope he does not catch on to my little trick, and if he does I hope he learns to look forward to this time with me as much as I do with him.

I just want to bottle it up and sell it.
Can you sell cuteness? Really I do not want to sell it, just keep it all for myself because I am selfish and because I know I will miss it.

I have this internal war with my self every day. Wishing they would grow up in some way or another. You know, always ways that make my life even a little bit easier for me, and then I find my self pining for the days when they were even a tiny bit littler.
This one and her male same aged counter part are killin me.

Don't be fooled by the sweet innocence. That is really just lurking in the background only coming out when it is really needed. You know, right after she has done something wrong, or is going to beg candy off of me. I am sad every time she does something sneaky and underhanded or even begins to fib. What happened to my sweet babies? I am just grateful this one will still crawl in to bed with me in the morning and cuddle. I am grateful she will always quietly came and hug and cuddle. She loves to be by me.

Bubba on the other hand .... Do not underestimate his sneakiness...... How do you even begin to bottle all his enthusiasm and mischief? His eyes emanate trouble, they just do. He is scheming all day long and sometimes in the night. He's larger than life and that's what defines him, and will surely kill me! I worry about him when he is with me and when he is not. When he is home he is getting into trouble constantly. Climbing and letting the dogs and the babies out of the side gate. Ever chased down two babies and two dogs at once? Breaks everything whines, oh he can whine. Makes all sorts of annoying boy noises and loud. Even when he talks there are no lower decibels. I am often asked if he has hearing loss. Nope, just no volume control. When he is at preschool or with a babysitter nothing changes, The rules are meant to be broken and he does not seem to care the cost. Yikes, I am in for it.What happened to my angel baby? He really was the perfect little baby. If we can manage to direct all this energy for good, he will be a force to reckon with.

WORD
The trend seems to be that instead of New Years resolutions we pick a word and simplify. Focus on that one goal and hope it helps us in other areas too. The first year I picked a word, I did pretty good. If it weren't for me posting my last two words I may not even remember what I chose. So a friend of mine posed the question on FB "Are you choosing a word for the New Year?" I pretty much answered no. I am not good at resolutions and as it turns out words. Unless you are talking about talking, that I can do A LOT of.... So now I am going to eat those words. Today I came up with my word.
DOCUMENT
This one I know I can live with. This one might actually get remembered. I want to document more of our lives. I want more documented in word and in photos. I want to start getting yearly blog books. I want to remember more of the stuff that bores others and makes me happy. I don't want to be in more pics with my kids. I am forcing myself. Not their fault I have PCOS and issues with being on the other side of the camera.I want the little things documented. My same friend does a weekly family photo. I would rather poke my eye out with a fork. I will try one a month though. It is a fabulous idea she has after all. I will document more of my kids comings and goings. More of what life is like and what we do. I am so afraid of being so busy with all these littles that I will forget. If it weren't for this blog and photos to remind me I am sure entire parts of my children's precious little years would be lost to me. So back to the entire reason I started a blog to journal. To Document our lives and be able to look back and remember. I started with the hardest part for me today.

This little pumpkin had a birthday this week and we went to see Tangled with the girls, while the big boys saw Tron. I made sure to bring my camera and I made sure we used it. I even did more than one. Not a bad jump start to year that isn't quite here yet.

I want to get down all the stories of how our children came to be ours. I want that documented as much for our sake as theirs. So when their Birthday rolls around this year I will do that child's adoption story. I am pretty sure I chose a word I can live with and a goal I can accomplish..

Pumpkins, Pigs, and Packing
That sums up my week.
Pumpkins,

Pumpkins,

and more pumpkins...

Pigs,

and a friendly hay munching goat who looks a little possessed if you ask me.

Did I mention Pumpkins?

Oh yeah, packing.... use your imagination, we have all been there and it's not fun.

Awwwwwwwwww....
Preschoolers are just some of the cutest kids around. Nothing like a small tyke with a back pack as big they are to make you smile. I love how they are so eager to learn and everything in life fascinates them. Except for time out, that my preschoolers don't love so much... Bubba and Little H will spend the rest of their school years together, starting this year. They are 4 months apart and do not seem to to mind. They were both so excited this morning. When their feet hit the concrete they were off and running. It was all I could do to make them stop for the obligatory, appease your Mom photos.
(Names on back packs have been blotted out to protect the innocent.)

That running away from me and this smile are proof that this girl is excited. She NEVER wants to have her picture taken or leave me for that matter and she did not shed a single tear today.

They all wanted to do their "fun work" before school today. We will see how long that lasts....

This kiddo has no problem showing his emotion. Think he's excited?

So just in case you were thinking two in preschool is not enough Wild Thing is in the afternoon class. He was so excited he would hardly cooperate for a picture and poured an entire a bottle of glue out for his teachers. That's my boy, yowzers....

Here's to a great year!

It's OVER....
DAY 30

My carefree days of less laundry are over. As of today one more thing is added the schedule and it seems one to two more things a day are coming up. These ragamuffins can play in the back yard like this all they want. Heck they can play in their undies for all I care. They will not however leave the house looking like there Mom has lost her mind, even if that truly is the case! So in interest of their dignity they will now go back to filling my laundry baskets with three or four times the loads of laundry I had gotten used to doing over the summer. We already attract enough attention while out in public, I do not intend to make it worse. Most days I wish I could never get out of my Jammie's either, ahhhhh, the life of a kid.

This is How I Feel
DAY 9
From the archives

Due to circumstances beyond my control I have hired a part time nanny. Nothing big, just a technicality. One I am not happy with. It is only seven months. I can do anything for seven months. Lucky for me the nanny and sitter are both my Sisters and Little H or Bubba on occasion only have to be away from me for short periods of time. I know... get a grip, lots of woman do it. I am very blessed to be a stay at home Mom and believe me I know it! That said, it killed me today even knowing she was just at my sisters, not missing me at all I bet, and playing with her cousin. It was weird every where we went I panicked when I only counted 7 little heads. When we went into Daddy's work and ate lunch I missed her. When we went and picked out a new pet for our house, I missed her. When I served dinner to seven instead of eight and thought of the family time she was missing out on I got MAD! She will be going to preschool this year and next year onto kindergarten and I want to spend as much time with her as I can before it all changes. I hate being forced to forfeit time with my kids. At the same time I think this could be so good for her. She is my kiddo with the most separation anxiety and the time away may actually prove beneficial, but still maybe a little premature.I made sure she was the last kiddo I put to bed. I cuddled up to her played all her favorite little face games. She loves a face massage. ( I am an aesthitician, remember?) She just kept asking for more so I obliged. I am silly I know and hopefully the time will fly by and she and I can both come to terms with the change.

Dear Google Reader,
Sorry I had too... I hit the "mark all as read" button, I had to, I did! It was just too much for me right now. I can not seem to find enough time to squeeze you and all your fun in. I am not giving up. I am just letting us start with a clean slate. You see, I thought summer would be less hectic. I was WRONG. My life has gone into over drive. Mostly all my reasons for ignoreing you are good, mostly... just to metion a few,
Been to DR's DR's and more DR's. Think of any random specialty and we may or may not have seen them for one or more of the kids since school got out. Don't get me wrong, some have beem more than helpful and some are making us come back. I know, the nerve... Meetings too, and people visiting our home, IE adoptions case workers, case workers, emergency intervention specialits, yikes, Lots of people. It has not been all bad though, just busy. We are making sure to sqeeze in some fun too.
We go the movies as a family once a week. Love Harkins movie fun! We have mangaged some swim lessons

Taken time to smell the proverbial roses.

Played in the grass.

Eatin some yummy JUNK foods:)

Speaking of yummy. This little fellow is yummy and he fits right in. He was supossed to be short term, really short term, and it has not worked out that way. Lucky us! He has been half the reason for all our busyness, and well worth the time and effort.

He is also the best buddy Princess Pea could ever find. Mommy is no longer the first person she thinks of for entertainment. A blessing in a adorable disguise, maybe.... a blessing either way! Those sad eyes have a story to tell. It's not a pretty one! So I say, Summer bring it on!! You will be over before I know it anyways. When you leave please take the blasted heat with you. We really don't like it!!

Sum, Summ, Summertime
I don't know what Mother nature says about the exact day summer starts. Around here it becomes official about the time school ends. I wish I could say I am one of those Moms that does the happy dance when school is out. I don't dance, I fret about how to keep this crew busy with out breaking the bank. With out them clawing eachothers eyes out. I know the summer has been a sucess when they head back to school the next year and my sanity is still intact...
I certainly know it's here when all those notices start flyin home from all over the place.
Dance recitals get scheduled

Preschool graduation and Kindergarten programs fill my days

Isn't it a right of passage to loose your first tooth in Kindergarten? Maybe not, but it is sad when all your friends are and you are not and you are tho oldest in your class. Made it by three days, pheeewww..... Never have I seen a kid more excited about loosing their first tooth. Congrats Miss M. Spend that Tooth Fairy dough wisely my friend.

I don't know if flowers signal summertime. Usually in AZ the death of everything green and living signals summertime. My sweet hubby brought me some just out of the blue. I love their smell and how they brighten my kitchen, and I love that he thought of me!

Summer also signals the need for and entire wardrobe change, for every kid... It's a must in my book. This may actually be my favorite part. The up side to AZ summers. It's all about keeping cool. My kids will look something like this all summer, if I have any say in it.

Imagine my lack of laundry duties if they hang in swim suits all day evey summer day but Sunday. Exept for the occasional need to be dressed this is the official wardobe of the M. crew for the entire summer. This wardrobe may be accessorized with water, sippy cups, snacks, and the occasional lounge chair, rootbeer included.

Here goes nothin...............

It's just not right
or maybe it's just a little bit embarassing that the weeds in my back yard are up to my kids knees and that they almost disapear when they play in them. just have not had time to spray between rain storms. Love the rain, hate the weeds it brings.

Or maybe it's just time for a much needed Mommy and Daddy get a way. Just so sad we are leaving on this little guys Birthday.

AHHHHH...... He was such a sweet baby. Not to happy though to share a B-day year with his little Sister. The bottom photo was actually their first meeting. Went well, don't you think? They have since learned to deal. They will spend their lives explaining the 4 month difference and well the other obvious things. He is still young and didn't really care what day he celebrated on just as long as he got his gifts. Look how much he has grown.

He was esspecially excited for his Cousin B. who is slightly older than him and shares and undying love for anything Thomas with him, to share in his B-day fun.

Sure LOVE you Bubba!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Birthday and Thank you for letting your lame Mom and Dad bail out on you on your big day.

A Little Diddy
" Row Row Row your bike crazy down the street.
Merry, Merry, Merry, life is BUUTTTT a deam."
Oh to be little again and not have a care in the world.........
To be content outside in January, decked out in your on backwards, inside out swim gear, riding your bike while singing your own diddy, happy as a clam.
To be content in 50 degree weather playing in the rain and water.
NOT ME, you can count me out of that party. I am glad they decided to make the best of a yucky day off of school. We had two different plans foiled by Mother Nature. The swimsuit play in the rain party lasted about 45 minutes. They are warmly bathed and dressed and happily watching Annie in the play room. Now that's my kind of party, maybe I will join them:)

I guess when the cold actually starts to get to you, you can cuddle with your sisters and then go back for more
