OH, That Hair

The hair on my Little Miss M is causing quite a stir lately. Some times it's in pony tails,

 Some times it's not.

I let her choose how her hair is done most days. She sometimes has one ponytail, sometimes braids and one ponytail. We have done her hair so many ways I can not even count. All I think are very cute on her. I was getting my hair cut at a chain that will remain nameless the other day. My hair girl is on maternity leave. At the last minute Miss M asks to come with me. I quickly throw some water and leave in conditioner on her afro and we run out the door. The minute I sit in the chair I am bombarded by questions about how I came to have an African American Daughter. I give my usual answer (ADOPTION) and I am then asked how many kids I have . I answer again. Miss M starts to get curious about the fun things around her and I have to remind to wait patiently on the bench for me. Then the hair questions start. Do I know what I am doing? Have I ever taken a class? What products do I use on her hair? I want to say , hey, didn't I come here for mine not hers. I explain I have been told not to cut it yet and that it get's washed twice a week and every day gets water, leave in conditioner and oil. She really has healthy hair even if it looks dry today. I explain the hurry I was in to get out the door. They are looking at me like I am an unfit mother because her hair is not in braids and not oiled at the moment. They are actually being quite rude. Then I get the big excuse me from the lady in the chair next to me who has been glaring at me the entire time and she says," Mam I have neice with hair like that and your daughters in not being cared for right. I would like to offer to pay for a hair cut for your girl." My Mouth drops open and I stop and think before answering. "Mam, I have explained now three times, we were in a hurry leaving the house and her hair is JUST FINE. I appreciate the offer, but money is not the issue. I can offord a hair cut for her. I have been told to leave it alone until she is eight or nine. When I get home I will make sure it is oiled right away." When I get up front I make sure I tell them how completely rude they have all been and that I will not be back. Two days later Miss M informs me she may get written up by the mean bus driver for getting her hair oil on the windows of the bus. WHAT???? One day there is not enough, and then too much. You do not write a kindergartener up for looking out the window and accidentally getting it dirty. I had to call the bus depot and lodge another complaint against the silly bus driver. The supervisor was MORE than kind to me as you can imagine. My Miss M is a beautiful girl and we are trying to teach her love everyone and that who you are on the inside is SOOOOOOO  much more important than what we see on the outside, because IT IS!!!!

Somebody?

Graduated from her first year of preschool.
Don't you just love watching little kids perform?
I do, a big group of innocence and fun jumping around a stage for their Mom's and Dad's.
It makes me happy......
Photobucket
I can't wait until next year when Bubba and Sissy will be bouncing and singing on the stage together.
Somebody?
Got her FIRST hair cut. I scrapped a page and hated it so I file 13'd it.
I will try again later. I was so proud of Little H. She was not fussy or whiny just sullen and ticked off. Better than a fit any day. She has the most beautiful curls, but they were so uneven so she just got a quick trim and I Love it. Thanks Jen!!!!!!

I guess I should do her hair and take an after shot. My camera has been on rest mode for a while now. I think my kids have been enjoying a break. It will be short lived because I just got the cutest things out shopping today and I have big plans for the summer.
Speaking of.....
In an hour or so my world will change as I know it for a couple months, so I am off to get a quick siesta to gear up for the madness that will be my life.
I know one last ditch effort at a power nap is useless for an entire summer worth of crazy but hey, mentally it makes me feel better.
WISH ME LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Things That Make Me SMILE

This has been a great week!! Here are the things that made me SMILE.
Bubba in big boy underwear all day with no accidents.
Attending the Blue and Gold banquet with Lightning and Layne. It was fun to sit and eat dinner just the three of us. No kids to worry about.
Babysitters who are not afraid to tell my kids like it is.
My parents for babysitting while we were at the B&G banquet.
Making time to play with my kids more.
My hair cut and color and Sissy's fresh locks too.
A great play therapy session with Wild Thing. I do believe we are making progress can you see me smiling? No? Believe me it's a big one:)!!!!!
Sitting here blogging with no guilt. My house work is done and I get to spend the day relaxing with my kids. We have a trip to the park planned. We are going to feed some Ducks.
The highlight of my week was a date with Layne to see,
these guys.
The 3 Redneck Tenors
Talk about talented and funny.Check em out on You tube.

When the show was over we went out and met them in the lobby. These men are classically trained and know what they are doing!!! We got our CD signed like a bunch of groupies and when I told tall, dark, and redneck that I was "easy" it didn't matter where he signed, he offered me his hotel key. I know he was kidding, but it was still fun!!!

Lots of reasons to smile this week!!!!

Let's Celebrate

I DID IT!!!!!!!!!! I got all I set out to do done!!!! I cleaned my garage, sorted through piles of clothes and ended up with a huge bag of boys clothes for one sister and 2 bags of clothes for my sista-in-law. FIVE bags to donate, plus a huge box and two bags of garbage stuff to stained or worn out to salvage. The closets and dressers are all organized and neat. Sorry I did not stop to take pics. I was a woman with a mission. I cleaned on and around my fridge.I did a good 25 loads of laundry over three days of which I still have about 8 loads to fold and put away. I took down my Turkey day decor because we will not be home to enjoy it and put up my Christmas stuff. No tree, I am dreading that this year. I can hear it now...No, NO, I said NO PLEASE don't touch!!! Crash the sound of a broken something. I got a taste of it all ready today. I was smart and put all things I can live with out on their level. Anything I want to keep or just plain don't want to clean up is up high.Bubba has announced he can touch and carry because it (Christmas decor) is all his. He was very sad when I told him it was mine. He then proceeded to walk around the house pointing and questioning ownership. He is just too funny:)He is at that age where he is getting in to the holiday, and I don't know who is more excited me or him!!!

Look WHO got a new do,I LOVE it:0) There is a rule when you have foster kids that especially with girls you have to ask permission for hair cuts. It has been very frustrating because Sissy's hair is so thin and stringy and I have wanted to cut it off for a LONG time and could not convince her birth Mom it would look so much better. Now that we are on the road to adoption the decision is mine and off went the hair. All the credit goes to this blogger. Thanks jen!!!!

GOOD MORNING...

NOT SO MUCH!!! I heard the knock on the door at 6:30 am and invited Carter in and what was hanging in his fingers? Sissy's hair. She and I both got our hair cut last week and ever since then she has been obsessed with her hair. She was up way before Layne and I and found some scissors in the desk drawer and proceeded to chop off her locks. See the lovely pieces sticking up on the top of her head?! Sissy has super fine hair that when pulled even slightly comes right out of her head. She does not need to loose any more hair!!! She just had two bald spots grow in. Then I head to the Dr's office and when Daddy was not looking she decided to proceed with the make over. This is extended wear lipstick that has basically stained her face and will have to wear off. She looks like a clown, OH WELL!!!! She is such a happy model. I am so glad she was willing to pose for the camera (insert sarcasm) Yeah well, Mommy and Daddy are not to chipper either. Is it legal to bar doors at night(JK)????!!! I will have to say that I am impressed that my good Hubby thought too document it with pics. Good job Babe, you will be a blogger yet!! OH Sissy, if looks could kill!! Try harder, Daddy and I love those faces you make!:):)

TEMPER! TEMPER!

I have taken Smiley to get his hair cut several times now and never had a problem. He will usually smile and flirt w/the ladies at Sport's Clips. I do not even have to hold him, he sits there like a big boy w/out Mom. Dad must not be cute enough for him because out came the lower lip and the temper. He was not pleased at the idea of a haircut tonight. He will usually smile big for the camera. Instead of smiling today I got the grunt and the angry profile shot. I am just hoping the next time I have to take him out for a haircut he will go back to smiling and flirting. I do not want a few haircuts at home to spoil his great behavior for the ladies!!!!!

THIS KID MAKES THE BEST FACES, HAPPY OR SAD!!!!!!!

FUNNY GIRL!

We love our sweet Miss M so much!!! One of the reasons we do is this kid is just plain entertaining. She says the funniest things. Her latest and most often repeated is "Daddy gave me lots of pretty hair didn't he!" She also says after staring at herself in the mirror or after having her hair done "I have cute curls from Daddy!" I love her innocence. She knows she is adopted but is to young to realize what it means. I love that she thinks she got her hair from him!!!

MY NEW DO!

Sissy's Hair was getting stringy and out of control. I finally got permission from her Bio.Mom to cut it. I want it to grow out even and thick. Not much was done but it sure looks allot better . It sure helps that she is so dang cute. She did really well which surprised me. Good Job my little pumpkin!!!
