UH OH...

Maybe I did the wrong thing by taking Sissy to a farm. She has always had a soft spot for animals. She was very brave at the farm and not afraid to walk right up to cows or calf's and pet them. We were eating dinner tonight and because I had just recently explained to Lightning that when we eat beef we are eating cow, he decided to tell Sissy the roast beef she was eating was a cow. It went like this
Lightning " Sissy you are eating a cow"(tauntingly)
Sissy Gag, spit and spit some more until all remains of the cow are out of her mouth "I not eat a cow!! I not eat a cow, OH NO... I not eat a cow"

She was mortified and I had to do some quick thinking to get that cow in her mouth. I told her not to worry about the cows it is just some chuck roast. I do not know why she was not concerned that she was eating"chuck" but it did the trick and she ate her roast beef. Three is a little to young to be starting that if you ask me. If you want to be a self proclaimed vegan or vegetarian I think you should be old enough to make an educated decision not a an emotional one. Thanks for the dinnertime entertainment Lightning!

Fast thinking on your part. I can just hear her in therapy years from now...."My mom fed me a cow!" She's too cute! I can't think of the animals when I eat them either. Once we were eating a pig that had been cooked whole in a pit in the ground, and I couldn't eat him because his head was still on and he was staring at me!

Too funny!

I liked the "not concerned about eating chuck" part!

My kids quiz us at dinnertime about what animal they are eating. No vegetarians at our house!
