The last

7 days have been unusual to say the least.
We have driven 1500 plus miles with all 8 kids.
Stayed at 3 different houses in three different cities in 5 days.
Crossed three states, one from top to bottom in almost a day.

Sleeping in our clothes the first night and running through the country morning air like banshees.
Lost one very treasured sleeping buddy.
Ruined one brand new Leapster
Lost a lot of sleep. You never really get that back, do you?
Said goodbye to my Grandmother. I am so grateful we went, moments like these are priceless.

My grandpa has now said goodbye to two wives. Losing loved ones is not easy. They have been married for 63 years. She raised 6 children, 4 of which were born to my Grandpas first wife. My Dad being one of them. She raised them as her own. I know exactly how that feels, and I love her all the more for her doing so. She had a smile that never faded. She has left a legacy of service and love.
Her services were in southern Utah and her burial in northern Utah.
We had to rush home to get these hooligans ready for the first day of school. I thought I was more prepared. I was not, I had to do laundry, shop to restock my kitchen, clean out my car,  load pictures, bathe the entire family, last minute school errands, load back packs, get school clothes ready, and get my family into some kind of it's normal routine. Oh we had a hard first day of school morning. They all ended up starting school with a smile so it was not a total loss.

Hopefully two nights in our own beds will make all the difference.!!!

I wondered what you were doing in UT so close to school starting. I'm glad you were able to go to her funeral. I'm sure you're exhausted. Are you going to be able to stay awake at bunko tomorrow night?

That's a lot to pack in right before school. I'm glad you went. Sounds like a terrific grandma--I'll bet she smiled that endless smile seeing you there, from above.

Sleeping in your own bed makes all the difference.

'sokay - you had a lot to do, one of which is to wrangle all those children all those miles.

I stand in awe of you!
