A Mothers love

I know Valentines Day is a holiday where the most emphasis is put on romantic love. My focus was not there at all. Daddy-O and I didn't even exchange gifts. My thoughts have been with my Mother the entire day. I got a call last night that she was rushed to the hospital after confusing which of her children she was talking to, repeating things over and over, thinking President Bush was still in office, (not a bad thought if you ask me) not being able to walk on her own, & severe dizziness among other symptoms. We quickly learned she may have a new lesion on her brain. She has MS. She may have had a stroke or heart attack. We still do not have a firm diagnosis as to all that happened but as I went to visit her today and the the nurses wished her a Happy valentines day on her white board while my Dad sat vigil over his dear wife of over 40 years.I was reminded of what love really is.Love is an action word. It's a kind deed, a quiet hug, dinner for a friend on a bad day, holding hands, laughing at eachothers jokes, listening for hours on end, forgiving an offense and so much more. My Mother is an amazing example of perseverance and patience. She takes what ever life hands her and makes the best of it. She has raised ten children and whatever heartache we have handed her has never changed her love for us. Home has always been where ever she is. Two of my Sisters rode with me to the hospital today and it was so fun to remind eachother of childhood memories both good and bad. It was also sobering to realize we may have less years than we thought with our Dear Mom and we need to be more present in her life. If I served her faithfully the rest of her life I don't think I could repay her all  for all she has done for me. I also know that's not how it works. I am a Mom now and know my job is to take all she taught me, to take all that love and pass it on. To give my kids all she gave me and hopefully more. She is doing remarkably well and this may prove to be a small set back for her. If I know my Mom though she will be up and going, off to work with the handicapp kids she adores so much the second the Dr's give her the ok. That is just my Mom...

We will keep your mom in our prayers. The hospital is not a fun place but for some reason it always has a strange way of putting things in perspective. We loved having everyone over the other night and want to do it again soon. loves.

Praying for the best for your sweet Mom. I agree that Valentine's Day should be about remembering all the people we have in our lives to love.
