The story of "THE BOX"
This box followed us from our old house to this one 31/2 yrs ago. It came with assorted papers and junk to be sorted through and filed, it sat, and sat, and sat, in what was our old office for about 1 1/2 yrs. More kiddos, like three quickly came into our lives and the office was moved to a small room off our kitchen, "the box" came along. It's contents were growing daily. I do not pay the bills, my husband does, so I felt it was his territory not mine. What if I threw away something that was important? Well the mess in the office grew and grew. We started lovingly referring to it as "The Pitt" I kindly told Layne I am in charge of the rest of this house, so you can clean "The Pitt'. It NEVER happened!! Small efforts were made by both of us but no real progress made. We would embarrassingly excuse the mess to all who had to enter for whatever reason. I would joke about how it was clearly not my responsibility and wish every time I entered "The Pitt" that it would all magically go away. It was amazing if you know me that I lasted as long as I did . I have a reputation for being a neat freak, I AM....... I have issues with my house being clean, and I fully admit it. So I had had enough and on Monday morning while my hubby was off visiting family I went to work. I emptied the box paper by paper, sorting and filing. I found lots of treasures including the title to one of our cars. I put all the garbage back in the box got my lighter, a lawn chair, and my garden hose. I was a woman armed for battle. It was 110 degrees outside and I didn't care. My kids were all napping and I did it. I lit the box and it's contents on fire in a far corner of my yard and therapeutically watched it BURN.

Hey, I have a Pit too....also referred to as my office. AND...for the same reason as you...my hubby does the bills and I feel it is his place to put away what he needs too! This however has lead to the loss of birth certificates, ss number cards, shot records...you know, all that important stuff that ACTUALLY has a folder, but he just never put them back! I still love him though! :) I think I need to have a fire as well!!! Great thinking and I hope it cleared your mind of it!!!
Good for you! And how funny that as I sit here in the den, I was just looking at a huge pile of papers and wanting to shred them all. I like the fire idea better. Burn baby burn!
And Taylor just said he will add last year's school planner to the fire. Therapy for both of us.
I need to start some fire therapy of my own! What a relief to get rid of unwanted stuff.
Don't we all have a "pit" we need to purge from our life..
You little firecracker you!!
Maybe I should do this... My hubby won't ever clean his mess up. I think I'll live a little longer before I take on that chore if I go in there I may never find my way out... lol!
That is hilarious!!!! I think I need to do that! :)
That's just awesome....
that is great. I have a few boxes I'd like to torch.
