Yep, My parenting skills or more like my lack thereof are backfiring on me lately
IE.....
"Mom can I go outside and ride my bike?"
"Sure buddy just don't ride in the street"
"Butt Daddy let's me ride in the street"
"Yep, Lightning he sure does, but only when he is out there to watch you and I can not go out there and watch you right now."
"PLEEEEAASSSE the sidewalk is so boring??"
"Lightning you have the sidewalk and the whole retention basin. The cars coming around that bend are aways going to fast buddy and I just can't let you do it. I Love you toooo much and do not want you to die!!! That would brake Mommy's heart forever."
"You don't care if I die"
"EXCUSE ME???"
"Ya remember when you told me to stop chewing on and putting my fingers in my mouth
and I didn't do it? You said you gave up, that my fingers have germs that can make me sick and die, so see you don't care if I die!"
BACKFIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
See what I mean ........
You should have heard me talking my way out of that one.
It did start with clarifying the wrong message I sent by my poor choice of words and tactics.
So here goes another day of parenting. Maybe I will be better at it today, but don't hold your breath:):)

Oh my gosh, that is too funny lol.
Kids.....aren't they great?! As hard as we try, they always somehow make us feel foolish. You are NOT alone friend.....not at all alone! :)
isn't it amazing the things that kids hear that we don't say that way? my sisters dog peed in the house and my brother-in-law said "I'm going to kill that dog" you know, not meaning it "that" way....but my neice cried for over 4 hours because of it and it took them that long to get it out of her why she was so upset....she thought they were really going to kill the dog! Kids....gotta love them! :)
I really hate it when they use what you say against you. And they remember everything. Taylor is always telling me things I said and did to him when he was little. Oh well....at least there's therapy.
