We All Need a Tree

I need a tree today!! My Sister sent me this and it could not be more fitting for my day.

We all Need a Tree! I hired a plumber to help me restore an old farmhouse, and after he had just finished a rough first day on the job: a flat tire made him lose an hour of work, his electric drill quit and his ancient one ton truck refused to start. While I drove him home, he sat in stony silence. On arriving, he invited me in to meet his family. As we walked toward the front door, he paused briefly at a small tree, touching the tips of the branches with both hands. When opening the door he underwent an amazing transformation. His face was wreathed in smiles and he hugged his two small children and gave his wife a kiss. Afterward he walked me to the car. We passed the tree and my curiosity got the better of me. I asked him about what I had seen him do earlier. 'Oh, that's my trouble tree,' he replied 'I know I can't help having troubles on the job, but one thing's for sure, those troubles don't belong in the house with my wife and the children.. So I just hang them up on the tree every night when I come home and ask God to take care them. Then in the morning I pick them up again.' 'Funny thing is,' he smiled,' when I come out in the morning to pick 'em up, there aren't nearly as many as I remember hanging up the night before.

We were rushing around this morning trying to get out the door to the book fair when I hear two little voices from the kitchen table reading the list of all they are getting for Christmas out loud for all to hear WHAT!!!!!????? I quickly asked What in the world they thought they were doing and where did they find it? Lightning said Miss M found it. Oh well, I said trying to quickly cover up my surprise. I was just listing the things you told Santa you wanted so we could send a big letter to the North Pole. Think it worked?? I hope so.
As the day wore on and my phone kept ringing. I picked it up to answer yet another call and it was the school. I got that sick to my stomach feeling when I saw the number on caller Id. I always just know it will be something bad. Anyone else's just gotta be a boy, boy take lighters to school and help get someone else's kid as well as himself suspended in second grade for lighting a fire in his class room and playing with the lighters at recess????I hope it is only mine because man we are having a LOT of fun over here!(insert tons of sarcasm) Boy am I going to have fabulous weekend. You know the consequence has to be no fun for him and it has to be something that sticks in his cranium. I think his Dad and I have it worked out. Dang so close to Christmas c'mon buddy what were you thinkin??????? I have a couple girls nights out this weekend and I will be hangin this worry on the tree and heading out for a much needed break from my current reality.

I love that...I would love for it to be that easy! I guess that shows how much work I have yet to do. I too dread those "Public School" calls.

I don't like it when the school calls either!

Have fun on your reality break, can't wait to hear all about it!

I did the exact same thing with my list!! Connor brought it in to me and said, Mom, look what I found. I hurriedly said the same thing, that it was a list of stuff they wanted so we could email Santa. I think he bought it. Then 3 days later, I left my list out of what I was getting Luvpilot, and he found it when he came home that night. I am such a dork!

Oh my....hang in there! Better to learn his lessons now and get him straightened out than trying to when he's a teenager and you can't straighten him out! I hope you weekend is fun and RELAXING!
