A DEGREE???
Who needs one ? All you need is a pair of rusty pliers and a loose tooth and you can call yourself "DOCTOR MOM." I have pulled almost all of Lightnings baby teeth out w/these pliers. When this kid gets a loose tooth it must be talked about at least every 10 minutes. This is only when it is really loose and bugging him. He walked in from his singing group and handed me his sucker saying his loose tooth was too loose and he could not have the sucker. I know it is bad if the kid is refusing candy!!! He played for a while but kept talking about it so I felt how really loose it was and had him find the pliers. We do clean them before removing the tooth. Sheri a great friend and fellow blogger was over to pick up Kate, who is part of our singing group carpool. She had her wits about her and asked where my camera was and took the pictures for us. Thanks Sheri for the quick thinking. I think he was playing it up a little for the company because he usually does not act scared at all. He wanted me to hold his hand . I had to get Miss M . I need both hands to yank the tooth.
Miss M held his hand and I got rid of the pesky tooth! I just love the look on Miss M's face as I pulled his tooth... priceless:o)
We tried to get a shot of the tooth, but I have a dorky camera and it is blurry. The face on Lightning is great though.
Here he is, minus one lateral. He was in good hands I assure you!! Sheri and I are both Orthodontic assistants and it is just a baby tooth. He is so excited to see what the Tooth Fairy thinks this tooth is worth!!!

I remember loosing my first tooth and drooling the rest of the day because I did not want to taste the blood or feel the hole left behind. I used a cloth atleast (I wasn't completely slobbering all over myself). It must be nice to have an orthodontist MOM! Maybe that would have helped my 6 year old physche.
LOL, this is great! And I love that you took pictures of it! Corb has yet to loose a tooth, but I keep telling him how Grandpa use to use floss on them and yank them out. And hey I use to be an oral surgeons assistant that counts for something right?!
okay, I haven't got to the loose tooth thing yet, but I know it's coming and this is totally freaking me out! I am so impressed that you would do this...I faint at the sight of my kids blood...yes, it's very sad but I can't even do bandaids, so there is NO WAY I will do this...you are a SUPER MOM!
You go girl! Way to take matters into your own hands. Oh and I need your email for Jamie Yetter asap.
Way to go, Mom! I can never get my kids to let me pull their teeth out; they wait for days (sometimes weeks) for the loose tooth to come out by itself. Drives me crazy! Better to get it over with.
So... what did the tooth fairy bring????
You both are so brave! I'm such a wimp I can't do that kind of stuff.
Posted a new pic of Lightning on my blog tonight. I should have the CD to you this week...
Yay for the tooth pulling. I'm calling you next time Sweet G is ready to lose one!
(And the stories about those sweet girls are ADORABLE!)
No freakin way! Do people really do this?! I remember we were always threatened...teased...that our teeth would get pulled out with pliers, or the good old tie one end of a string to the tooth and the other to a closing door....Wow, what a brave guy Lightening is...and what a brave mommy YOU are! I know who to call now!
So, i just realized there is another ASHLEY on here...that last one was from your favorite sister in law...HA!
Oh and THANKS SOOOOO MUCH for letting us use your table and chairs!
My dad pulled a lot of my teeth out w/ pliers and I am a wimp because I didn't like it at all!!! I won't even let Stuart use pliers to pull out Brett's teeth because it still freaks me out! He uses floss and ties it at the base and it's bye-bye tooth.
That's too funny, I'll have to keep that in mind...I think my daughter's would freak out though if they saw me coming at their mouth w/pliers!
I came over from ONEHM's blog and as I was reading yours, I discovered that you are married to my dad's cousin. (My dad is Roger Smith.) I assume it is the same person anyway. He looks the same and has the same first name. What a small bloggy world!
OMG...I CAN NOT HANDLE PULLING TEETH! My kids will go days...so sad...with teeth hanging by a thread cuz I can't do it. I am fine with stitches, broken bones, but for some reason...not teeth. But congrats on being tougher than me...love the pliers! And I am curious too...what does the tooth fairy give YOUR kids?
